Project TamTam between New Caledonia and Vanuatu is the world’s first SMART project. The environmental sensors will combat climate change, protecting our ocean ecosystems and marine wildlife, as well as save the lives of vulnerable people groups through advanced tsunami warnings.

What are SMART Cables? Science Monitoring and Reliable Telecommunications (SMART) cables are ocean data cables that have been upgraded with environmental sensors to measure temperature, pressure, and seismic movement. This will help combat climate change and provide advanced warning of tsunamis.
