This sounds neat! Did you play the VR or desktop version?

Forever Knight.

(also, the obvious corollary: Seattle can reclaim its cultural identity, and all it takes is throwing money at John Keister until he agrees to reboot "Almost Live.")

Leyou also owns Digital Extremes (Unreal Tournament, Warframe) and Athlon Games (holding company for the Telltale Games assets) too!

One of the weirdest diversification stories ever.

a note to save some frustration: If you aren't cheating by reading a guide/walkthrough, then you _will_ need to do NG+ in order to actually cure everyone, so don't stress if you can't cure some things right away

a full playthrough is quite fast (10-20 mins) so doing NG+ is not very onerous

Like, even if you assume good intent for everyone here, it still implies that an AI workflow with clearly insufficient human oversight/monitoring is being used to create code changes to an authentication & authorization library

There are not enough yikes

the trick would be how one actually adds creatures to the Contraption -- it'd probably be a beefier version of Scrying, you'd need a high DC to add someone based on just a picture (of their posts), lower DC if you had something of theirs

but once they're in, every amulet-wearer gets updated!

"While wearing the amulet, all creatures marked by The Contraption within a 20-foot cube are outlined in blue light (as per Faerie Fire). As a minor action, a marked creature in range can be repelled; they must pass a Wisdom saving throw or spend the next round moving directly away from the caster."

the combination of username and post has sent me down a mental rabbit hole of "could a divination/abjuration wizard make a believable D&D version of The Contraption"
