That's certainly safer than installing a closed-source app but not a silver bullet.
"Safer" does not mean "safe."
There is no truly safe engagement online. There is only risk mitigation.
I applaud you, but I doubt the majority of users are availing themselves of these defensive tools.

I just don't understand how so many modern, tech-savvy folks can be so cavalier about the implicit risks of granting a literal hostile foreign government a direct line into the devices which either contain or unlock our most sensitive data.
