Having a great time at #reforc2025 with a great paper yesterday by @giovannigellera.bsky.social and right now a fascinating one on Osiander by @ruthatherton.bsky.social

Looking forward to the rest of it...

Now that's fun. Here's how they look to me, and as a matter of fact, if I use the first one (the one of my phone's set), posts are not included in the “What’s History” feed that collects posts with the second one

One for the #Reformation experts: I reread #Luther ’s Assertio (1520) with the passage below on #FreeWill (🇬🇧 in the ALT text). Isn’t this a deliberate provocation of #Erasmus, four years before their famous dispute broke out? SecLit seems to be silent about it. Thoughts, hints?

A beautifully arranged small exhibition the Bernese theologian Benedikt Aretius (c1522-1574) opened today at the University Library of #Bern. Informative about both Aretius' life and intellectual context - take a look if you're in the area #earlymodern 🗃 www.ub.unibe.ch/service/auss...

I always wondered why Swiss reformers of the late #16thc were so well informed about #medieval #CanonLaw. And now I've come across this: doi.org/10.3931/e-ra... Great job, Johannes Haller... #earlymodern #reformazing #e-rara

We are organizing a #hackathon / coding days at @unil.bsky.social next week. If you feel the need for some social warmth while you write your code, come and join us at IDHEAP (free lunch for CUSO members if they register here: theologie.cuso.ch?id=877&tx_di...)

One of my doctoral students came across this French edition and glosses of the Pauline Epistles (Paris, Antoine Verard, 1504; 2nd ed 1507). The translator is "un docteur en theologie de l'ordre de saint Augustin" – any idea who this might be? #earlymodern #exegesis gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/b...

Full of surprises, the 16th cent: came across Jacopo Sadoleto's Romans commentary (1534/35) in my Latin class. An amazing work: composed as a Platonic dialogue, written in Ciceronian style and bristling with anti-scholastic polemics. See ihr-num.unige.ch/rrp/X1107 #earlymodern #exegesis

Just added #Castellio 's Annotations on #Romans IX to our database of 16th-century commentaries on the #PaulineEpistles. We're now at 80 commentaries for the Letter to the Romans alone, without having really looked at printers outside the Swiss area so far: ihr-num.unige.ch/rrp #earlymodern
