But yeah I guess providing medication that improves patient's lives and/or keeps them alive shouldn't be part of health insurance. 🤷

Of the many, many meds I've been on for my chronic illnesses over the years, HRT is one of the only that has had a true, obvious, overall positive impact.

Feeling more at home in your body -> less stress -> less inflammation -> less symptoms

Plus copays almost doubling as my bodymind continues to fall apart from six years of worsening pandemic isolation and fifteen years of being sick every day.

(I have a post viral chronic illness much like long covid but from before)

Now I get to wait for the new insurance plan year, and the anniversary of my daughter's mental health ER trip last year, to see if she will be able to still receive the care that's helping to keep her alive.

Finally someone found a notice on the computer network that said the change in coverage was being made because of a Trump EO.

But I couldn't get any info on continuing care we're already on or not. The best they could tell me is that it would "probably be fine."

The letter had a phone number to call to apply for continuation of care, so I called to see if our HRT would still be covered. For two hours I got passed between representatives, none of whom seemed to know anything about any part of it.

We've got a 40yo, a 20yo, and a 17yo on HRT. Only the 17yo got a letter, but it didn't mention "youth" or age anywhere. Just "no gender affirming care."

As an adult, though, I've learned that all the vibes I didn't know how to put words to as a kid were actually the very good politics of my heart.
