I know it's 11 PM and I shouldn't be eating, but I just reheated a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup I made earlier today (the best batch so far).
Watching the Rolex 24 is hungry work!

Praying friends, please pray for me. A lot of the bullshit that made up the last quarter of 2025 has decided to follow me into 2026.
People I love need to stop dying.

Made some caramelized onions for burgers tonight. I don't know what possessed me to hit them with some balsamic as they were finishing up, but I will only be making them this way from now on.

Not bad for Frankfort, KY.

Weirdly enough, the best auroras I've seen were on my back porch, even though I've been to Norway, Iceland, and Alaska.

Even my trip to the UP over Labor Day weekend (with an expected strong aurora) didn't give me this.

There was a "no kings" rally in London, England and I don't think they really meant it.

I have never seen so many bees and butterflies in my yard.

I guess letting a portion of it go semi-feral (plowed it, planted a bunch of wildflowers, left it alone*) was a good idea.

*technically, I've watered them because we haven't had measurable rainfall since the NFL preseason.

So, late Thursday night, I said goodbye to my furry friend of 14 years... She was doing fine then, suddenly, she had no energy and couldn't stand up. We drove her to the emergency vet.
Based on ultrasounds and other checks, she was filling up with fluid.

President Trump signed an executive order banning flag desecration.

Neat.

I learned that Captain Planet is on Prime. The idea that a billionaire created a TV show to encourage kids to care about the planet is wild to think about now.

And I realized that people younger than about 35 or 40 have never lived in a world where the environment wasn't a partisan political issue.

I don't get how people criticize "this generation" and "kids today". Every generation is a product of how they were raised.

Don't dump on kids, dump on their parents.

Yep
1. History isn’t there to be liked or disliked.
2. History is there to be learned from.
3. History offends you? Even better. Then you’re less likely to repeat it.

It’s that simple.

The only people pushing for return to office are micromanagers and people who spend more time socializing than actually working.

If the whole "infinite universes" thing is true, then there's at least one where the Oak Ridge Boys cover or record Tyler Childers' "Bitin' List" and I kinda need to hear that.

Zero lies detected.
It’s so funny how many of the Bigly Alpha Fascist Males are the way they are because a lib was once mean to them and/or a brown person once scared them.

So, removing statues to confederate traitors = erasing history, but changing historical exhibits to fit the views of a man who has spent his whole life in luxury = good?

Someone get out the crayons and explain this one to me.

Icelanders are delightful (a thread).
When you register your name in the Icelandic phonebook you can choose to state your profession. And they have a pretty loose definition of what exactly a profession entails.

This person for example has opted for „þjóðhetja“. It means „National Hero“.

Just reviewed data from my particulate monitors this weekend.

Keep calm and apply IH flags!

My first executive order: ICE and anti-ICE protesters are allowed to wear masks.

But they have to wear Denny Hamlin's mask.

The Boston Tea Party was the original no kings protest and if nobody in Boston dumps tea into the harbor, I'm gonna be a little disappointed in the movement.

There's a rule for state government employees that, if someone is hired into a pay grade at a higher salary than the minimum for that grade, everyone in the pay grade making less than the new hire's salary gets bumped up to the new hire's salary.

Feels like a good way to spend a Sunday night.
Tasty brew (West Sixth/Country Boy Chapter collab- raspberry donut stout) and a good book in the best outdoor space in Franklin County

Guess it's time to admit I'm getting old(er).
Every time I shave my head, the hair has more and more gray.
Damn shame I have such a huge bald spot, because if I could grow a full head of gray hair, I'd rock that like y'all wouldn't believe.
