8 miles of out then back on South Tyne trail, Halty to the viaduct. Weather gods were kind - no rain, nice temp and light headwind becoming a tail wind on the return. Some nice dogs and their human plus a friendly cyclist. I even got a thumbs up from the big fellah.

Another 4.5 miles, this time at a faster 8.5 min mile pace. It remains all to play for with my stupid alliterative target of 600 at 60 (Madness!). Extreme weather in January and injury in February knacked the job. Then more injury in June. Still, let's keep going. 50 in a fortnight anyone?

After a long weekend eating and drinking to excess, this little refresher up the old road route was bound to be tricky. Still both me and Edith are big on the old regrettons rien and I pretty much got away with it. 4.5 miles at 9 min mile pace(skewed down by brief stop n chat) in continuous drizzle.

Out and back from Rowley station to St Matthew's church on the wonderful Waskerley way - 9 miles in total. Really strong headwinds but no rain. Some beautiful views and a remote lovely bench seat in memory of someone I went to school with - keep on running everybody.

Shamefully can't recall buying any new records in 25 but I have dived down a beautiful rabbit hole of charity shop disco, soul and jazz with particular highlights being 70s era George Benson and Rose Royce. Also the tatty beauty below. The Martha compilation however, is an absolute stunner!

Unplanned little old road canter. 4.5 miles at a steady 7mph. Decided to get out while I had the chance. December seems to be continuing in the extremely wet style of November. The rain has created mini lakes in several fields of pasture and the fallen Autumn leaves are now a very sloppy mushy mess.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Organisers and marshals at Kirkharle Park Run. 2nd one ever here. Very wet today and clear simple advice given before hand on what to expect underfoot. Lovely mixed course, cafe/toilets. Definitely back when it's dry. Very accessible, just off A696.

More leaden skies and more leaden legs for usual run but 7mph 8:30 miles is my best for a while. Probably aided by the Playlist. Disco and Reggae helps eat up the miles while Punk and Indie injects some speedy bursts. That "Cool Runnings" toasted section in "Money in my Pocket" is sublime.

At the far point of my regular 4.5 miles jog sits this gate. Today as usual I touch it before heading home. Just under 40 mins, 2°C in sunshine with a cold breeze. As I approach the gate I always think of it's counterpart marking the end of the Barkley Marathons and feel a part of something bigger.

Gateshead ParkRun, a classic of the urban genre. Set in the beautiful Saltwell Park which despite removing the small jet aeroplane- it's playground centre piece in the 80s, remains a stunning location. Perfect weather, brilliant marshals and gentle uphills to wake up the legs.

Circa 1905 my Grandmother would take the train from Lanchester to Durham city to go to school. Appreciating how lucky she was I bet she thanked God and the patron saint of education(?) Yesterday I ran part of the route paying a mental homage to Caballo Blanco and Zatopek.

Back to the usual road/light trail mix. Pretty cold but super visibility and Autumn still hanging on in there. Bluetooth bone conductors seem kaput so dug out my very old wired Senie Px100s(?). Like meeting up with an old friend. Great sound even if foam earpads have worn away.

Loved inaugural November Sunderland 10k. Heavy rain before. Stopped by 9am start. Sunshine after finish. Course along Roker promenade to Seaburn with some undulation/inclines. Super sea views. Well organised for 1600 participants. Delighted with sub50 time.

Adjusted my usual route to avoid the nice trail section because of icey conditions. Bit daft because I would probably have got more traction off road. Managed about 4.5 miles in beautiful sunshine. Hands never warned up despite the gloves. Looks like I had it easy compared to some Blue Sky runners.

My running app cajoled me into a 10k today, to participate in a virtual race it was promoting. With a formal 10k race lined up for next week, it seemed like a good idea. My watch died at 6.12 miles! This could have left me cursing the running gods but instead I mused on my so(u)les. Learned a lot.

Prudhoe Riverside Park Run - a canny canter along the Tyne. Colder, wetter and windier now but a lovely course. Hanx to all the fantastic volunteers. New route definitely faster than the old route.

Never intended to go for a run today. Wasn't even a scribble on the crumpled calendar that masquerades as a training plan, but... Raining when I started, wet under foot and a cold northerly. Playlist helped me do usual 4.5 miles. Pleased I did it.

Back to my usual this morning. Nice temperature with a westerly breeze. Glad my heart rate seems more normal!

Another day, another run along an old railway line, in golden Autumn glory. I m not complacent about any of those 3 wonderful things, despite taking a while to "get out the bit" this morning. South Tyne Trail from Halty to the viaduct. Happy with pace -below my usual 10 min miles for 9/10 mile runs.

Pleasant Park Run at the always picturesque Tyne Green. Wet n potentially slippy underfoot but amazing Autumn display continues on the trees along the Tyne. Good turnout for 250th event and dozens of volunteer marshals - Big thanks to all these lovely people. Hope HR is wrong!

Steady 10K down and up the old railway line with a gentle jog through Lanchester. Autumn remains golden but I forgot how steep that climb is out of the Malton Picnic area.

Well, I managed another November run yesterday and on the same route. Can you believe it? The stats are almost the same. Pass the metronome, Topper.

First run of November. Hopefully lots more to follow. Beautiful Autumn colours.
