Neurobio, biomech and roboticist - mad scientist. And apparently now CS Prof. Martial artist who lives in a cabin overlooking Puget Sound and loves to forage plants and mushrooms. Way into fiber arts.
I've given so many actual and adopted nieces and nephews kitchen stuff for their first apartments. I can't even imagine stopping at eighteen

My Ember did not approve of her name being over loaded!

This is my Ember (and you can see her flame tipped tail). We also fostered two equally friendly tortie sisters named Cinder and Ember.

To be fair, my car was definitely a beater. But I loved it.

I was thinking the posts that triggered them - but when I looked at your bsky posts about the event, I didn't see much?

Pointers to any of this? I'm always fascinated by these differences in narratives, and I'm not sure where to look. (Other than bluesky, which so far seems non contentious...)

We have had the best research institutions in the world for two reasons - bipartisan support for research funding, and bipartisan support for academic freedom.

The current administration is attacking both.

This *is* the response of a moneyed institution that can raid the coffers.

This is a lot less cutting than you're seeing at many schools.

Keep in mind that they have a bunch of students who were admitted prior to the Trump cuts they must continue to support.

He was an abusive asshole. That abuse did include me and my younger siblings.

And it also included a lot of people outside of the family.

A lot of his colleague did know me - I hung around both his lab and the company he consulted at.
