Neurobio, biomech and roboticist - mad scientist. And apparently now CS Prof. Martial artist who lives in a cabin overlooking Puget Sound and loves to forage plants and mushrooms. Way into fiber arts.
This is my Ember (and you can see her flame tipped tail). We also fostered two equally friendly tortie sisters named Cinder and Ember.

Y'know, I may not have power atm, but I have pretty easy cats. (Pic is off Elijah, the new foster, claiming the seat nearest to the fire.)

Elijah has a clean bill of health, and is really coming out of his shell. And he's so cuddly! (That look is because I called his name to get him to look towards the camera. "What?!")

He still has another round of shots and a snipping before he's ready to look for his people...

Today I am reminded of Purrberus, guardian of procrastination..

Like my grandfather before me, I am antifa.

So much commiseration.

Really, teaching CS is mostly a side gig.

My real job is opening doors for cats.

Justin Rickey's "Boat"

(These are all undergraduates who took a summer class - and I'm not an animator. Many of them ran out of time to either render or polish.)

A thread of animations from my Blender class that I've been given permission to share. First, Raelyn Brown and Zahi Asalman's stick figure duel (complete with blooper reel).

The second time, we added a version with the T-Rex on a Lyra.

This time, we're adding a whole new design. Ta-dah!

So, if this is your kind of mischief, the link is: www.bonfire.com/store/lauren...

(And my sister is at www.laurenkehl.com - she's really awesome.)

As some of you know, my sister is an aerialist, an aerial instructor, and movement theory and biomechanics nerd.

Some years back, she made a post pointed out that if your arms happened to be short, there were some moves you simply couldn't do. This blew, and the T-Rex Arms Trapeze Club was born.

Cricket and I are chilling on the deck.

PNW hot is different than Piedmont hot.

Here, I spend most of the time with my windows all open, and sometimes the front and back doors, too, to get better breeze off the water. The cats still melt, but I have no complaints.

Do I know anyone who has a background in Blender (modeling in particular) who might be able to fill in for me with my class? Remote is a possibility.

...I seem to have mono. I'm on the mend, but I'm not sure if I have eight hours of teaching a week in me at the moment.

Cricket for cat tax.

For most of my robotics labs, I have students upload code, and some combination of schematics or a video of their board/bot doing the required behavior.

I could not run this course without broadband...

Do other people have cats who are good at jimmy-ing the lock on their cat doors?

This isn't the first door I've had problems with, nor the first cats, but I don't hear about this!

Oh, and new ink! It's part origin story, part pledge, and part a reminder to get the hell out if it comes to it.

Color is forthcoming.

Since her new person wants to leash train her, she got her first walk outdoors (since we rescued her from Capitol Forest) yesterday. She did great.

I haven't done a Nephthys update for a bit. She's back up to a reasonable weight for her size, friendly, happy, and energetic -

and most importantly, she seems to have found her person! It was love at first sight, on both sides. She needs to get fixed, and then she'll go to her new home :-)
