Authoritarianism works, not by concrete actions and rules, but continuously leaving society gray and murky in its actions and its purpose. It has to unknowable and irrational. That is the psychological pressure authoritarians want in order to push them into exhaustion, and thus into compliance.

I wish people would remember the firings are not for cutting money or reducing the bureaucracy. Project 2025 openly touted replacing every body within the government with people aligned to Trump’s agenda. They are going to re-fill these positions with red coats while the media spins it wheels.
RFK Jr. just fired thousands of federal workers at crucial health agencies, including the FDA, CDC, and NIH.
These are the people who inspect our food, track infectious diseases, and research life-saving treatments and cures.

I wish people would remember the firings are not for cutting money or reducing the bureaucracy. Project 2025 openly touted replacing every body within the government with people aligned to Trump’s agenda. They are going to re-fill these positions with red coats while the media spins it wheels.
The problem with the media is not necessarily that it is just propaganda. It’s that it refuses to push back on things that it should known are corrupt and wrong. It leaves bad ideas and philosophies openly unchallenged.

They used this exact same logic last time when they slowed down GDP growth through tariffs. They want to play the game that "We are growing but we can still tackle this issue by tanking things a little bit." Except it doesn't work that way in practice and never has - never will.
Peter Navarro on CNBC reacts to the shrinking GDP number by insisting it's actually good news because if you strip out the effect of tariffs "you have 3 percent growth. So we really like where we're at now."

The one thing they know, but won't be outright about it that is you want manufacturing to boom in America, it's automation that would make it happen. None of them would bring many jobs back. If they had to be honest that the policies would lose jobs and not bring any back, they would've lost on 11/5
