A while back, a friend informed me that health food stores had started selling their amino acid isolates as "aminos" because people on "alkaline" diets had stopped buying anything with the word "acid" in the name, and I decided I'm quite happy for those people not to consume any amino acids at all.

I once sat across a table from a friend-of-friend while they ranted at some length about "chemicals" in food until I asked them to define what they meant by "chemicals," at which point they stared at me agog, as it clearly never crossed their mind before.

I guess that person works for NPR now.

Izakaya/Sushi Den, Root Down, or Rioja. All pricey (Root Down a little less so) but all excellent.

Eight years younger than the Democrats! (1834 vs. 1826)

I know basically nothing of Chelsea Clinton, but the fact that she hasn't gone on a killing spree even though some of the worst people on the planet have publicly shit on her since she was 12 years old because of who her parents are suggests to me that she can't be so bad

In an ideal world the United States would, IMO, probably have four major parties and the Democratic Party would be the center-left liberal party. We should work to make that ideal a reality.

Until then, we don't live in an ideal world and you, I, and the other bedfellows should get comfy.

I think so, and I agree it's a very good thing!

By almost any measure you care to name, the Democratic Party is the most successful political party in the history of the world, and within my parents' memory it successfully transitioned from a club for segregationists into arguably the world's most socially liberal major party. That rules!

There's only so much the GOP can do before they get annihilated in the midterms next year, and the more of the really bad stuff they do, the more complete the annihilation will be.

I'm guessing Merrick Garland did not vote for Donald Trump, but 77 million other people did.
