Mortality Epidemiology, UK
1982-2022

In the past 41 years, there have been substantial reductions in mortality at every age. Modern medicine, which includes vaccination, medications, surgeries, therapies, and approaches, as well as public health initiatives, have saved lives.

And no, MAID doesn't account for it, because we can separate suicides by age and gender, as well as MAID deaths by age and gender, and MAiD death changes do NOT map to suicide death changes.

In fact:

A) the 2023 Peak suicide rate in July is lower than any monthly suicide rate from 2015-2019

B) the suicide rates in December 2022 and 2023 are the lowest monthly suicide rates seen in 30+years in Canada (<8 per 100k per year)

👏Suicides continue to fall in Canada👏

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, there has been an ongoing decline (well past periods of pandemic) in suicide rates in Canada. Going to the end of 2023, we can see significant decreases.

Want to learn Japanese? My online teacher, Aki, has some available slots. She's lovely and thorough, and I really enjoy it. I've seen her for seven years now!

If you tell her I sent you, you'll get no discount but she will smile and make fun of me.

A panorama I did of the Flame Nebula, Horsehead Nebula, Running Man Nebula, and Orion Nebula. Also just testing to see how Bluesky handles media.

When we look at the electoral college results, Trump won 58% of available electoral college votes. This would rank his election 41st out of 57 elections since 1800.

In fact, if we look at the margin of victory when we include all eligible voters, Trump wins with 31.3% of the voting population, compared to Harris' 30.2% and 1% going to other candidates. 37.4% did not vote.

If we only include voters, Trump wins 50.03% to 49.97%

Battling Election Misinformation
Part 2: "The Mandate"

Contrary to media/republican pronouncements, the election of Donald Trump was one of the narrowest (by popular vote, +1.73%) in history, with only 7 elections since 1800 being narrower.

We are going to have to at some point have honest conversations about weaponized disinformation as a threat to human life. Adult, mature conversations. Not ones that say "but my free speech" or quote some slaveowner from the 1700s.

Ones that recognize that disinformation kills.
