It wasn't my usual truck or usual driver. The last time they gave me a different crew was the week after I reported him for peeing in the alley.

I have two more equipment swaps that I need to do and then I have to colo a backup server and roll out this stupid vpn router so it can tunnel back in. And then before end of Q1 I have another project I need to finish. On top of that I got a letter about jury duty.

Maybe NEXT TIME I'll just put some obnoxious esp-32 controlled lighted sign in the alley that says PLEASE TAKE MY TRASH TO THE LANDFILL and it's controlled by a tilt sensor on the can and some AI nonsense that can run image recognition on the truck to flash the sign at the guy? JUST A REMINDER!!!

So she said she would forward a note to the "operation team" and that she put a note on my account. A NOTE ABOUT WHAT, that I'm being a pissbaby about how my garbage wasn't taken for 4 days? Yeah, it's a small inconvenience, but don't try to blame me for this! I've already halfway filled the can!

lmao they said "oh that sticker is a reminder for next time" and I told her the note telling me to have my cans out at 6am when I had them out at 614am and the truck didn't even come until 1017 and then the dude just got out, walked around, and then drove away, wasn't really appropriate in any way

So I can still dump the dehumidifier bucket into the drain, I can still (in theory) drain the water heater into the drain, and eventually when I mop the basement floor to get rid of the remaining flood deposits I can also have the water go down into the drain.

I don't want to be that person but I'm going to call and complain about how offensive this sticker they put on the trash can actually is. It's not my fault the guy skipped me. It's not my fault that they said he'd come back and never did. And it's not my fault it took four calls to get this done.

I need to throw away a bunch of uncooked pasta and wet boxes from the basement so I don't really care how their software works or what the message said. But I know their system keeps notes about stuff ("thanks for choosing us since 2013 🙂") so I'm glad this person got to see my account this morning.

Now I will admit I don't know the first thing about their system (or any dispatch software really) but if it was still not marked as completed was the message she sent just "tyam keeps calling about the trash please someone go get it so the phone calls will end" or was it something else?

I will PROBABLY never trust the basement ever again but putting stuff up 6 inches off the floor in totes (see CAD in previous posts) and reorganizing things so when/if it does flood then the damaged is minimized will make it much easier to deal with.

But so far the resolution is what I want. No digging up the entire yard. Capping the pipe instead of repairing it. Snaking both sides to see that this doesn't branch off somewhere. I retain use of the floor drain. And, maybe most importantly, I have not paid for any of this.

There's no way to know if this solves it until there is another big storm but everyone involved with this seems to think the problem is going to be solved by this. I am not getting my hopes up yet. I need to see it not flood before I feel safe enough to not check every time it rains.
