I know EF can be frustrating sometimes (I don't think it's possible to create an ORM that isn't).

But compared to the ORMs available in the JavaScript/TypeScript world, it's magical. I'm sure my teammates are tired of me saying, "we could do that easily in EF."

2/2 Edit your daily (or weekly or monthly) journal. Add a command, give it a name, select "Open today's note" as the "When command runs" option, and save it.

Then set a hotkey for that command. The official documentation explains how: help.obsidian.md/hotkeys
Hotkeys - Obsidian Help
Obsidian allows you to customize hotkeys, also known as keyboard shortcuts. Default hotkeys are only defined for the most commonly used commands. If you frequently use a command, you can define a hot…

I run into too many developer tools / libraries where the only documentation is generated from documentation comments in the source code (like JSDoc in JavaScript or XML Docs in C#).

SQL's origins are in set theory, and ascending and descending have been used there since Cantor created it in the late 1800s, I think.

Then words like increasing and decreasing can overlap with the concept of strictly inc/dec where each term must be larger/smaller than the previous, not the same.

I sometimes wonder (more often than I should) whether allowing comments and trailing commas in JSON would have prevented the rise of YAML.

I use them a lot since they're easy to type on the Mac (option+hyphen), but mostly for ranges of numbers. I rarely use them for other things like complex compound adjectives (the Tony award–winning songwriter).

I've been using em dashes since I discovered them during my first year in college in the late 1980s. When I used Windows, I used an AutoHotkey substitution to insert them, but on the Mac, it's simply shift+option+hyphen.

I also use en dashes to indicate ranges: 20 – 30. Option+hyphen on the Mac.

There is so much that is good there, but I want to highlight @mikeschmitz.bsky.social's three questions about considering the material we consume:

1. Who am I allowing to speak into my life?
2. What effect is that having on me?
3. Is that OK?

Thank you for the pointer!

I agree about the lack of value in first-impressions-from-a-novice-user content.

It could be about where his side of the bed is in the room relative to doors and windows.

At least that's what it has always seemed like for our dogs.

Adding salt (or a saline solution) to cocktails has become common lately to enhance their flavor.

While I don't drink coffee, I find that salt works in cocktails, even bitter ones, which makes me think it would help coffee, too.
