My favourite book of all time always seems relevant at times like these. The lesson of this book, that we are all susceptible to bias and misinformation if we are not actively guarding against it, is incredibly on point right now.

Update: cats have returned to the shelter after 3 nights with us once the fire was successfully contained. One apparently wanted to stay and fought very hard against being put in the carrier.
