Ah. Crap. Yeah. I thought it might be flu surge thane to antivaxing idiots. That's the issue here.

Not surprised. My daughter went back last Monday and was sick by Thursday. Missed Friday with a 101.3 fever. Luckily it seems to be moving along fast but jeez.

Acorn Heights.

That sucks. My daughter is very noise sensitive and we have a pair of headphones meant for things like woodworking and it works well since the speakers in a theater are so loud.

Godspeed. It might be rough, especially if they don't deal with loud noise very well.

I'd go with 1. If you're already tired, editing is a slog and errors can happen. If you procrastinate, you'll get less done overall since you then have to clean before editing anyhow.

I ran into that deck using my Tannuk Warp deck. I won with 5 cards warped: Portal to Phyrexia, Drakuseth, Cityscape Leveler, Overlord of the Boilerbilges, and Chomping Mastasaur. So damn fun.

The thing about eternal formats is that they have much larger pools to work with, allowing for more deck variety in the first place. Standard on the other hand, with smaller pools, just coalesces around 2-3 "best" decks that change as bans and releases hit (ex: Vivi and mono red before the bans).

I feel this. I just turned 44 two weeks ago. I've felt too old for about a year already.

Ugh. Sick is the suck during the holidays. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I'll be doing that this weekend. Waited as long as I could to avoid another update dropping in between.

I should have caveated it with "if your curve is low, it works as well." I'm also a player that likes big stompy things that cost a lot and ramping them out, so 33 lands would be a bad idea for me personally.
December 18, 2025 at 3:12 PM
If you're running like 10+ rocks with that land count (or ramps/dorks if you're in green), I can see it. Personally, I refuse to run less than 37 lands with at least 6-8 other mana sources because mana screw is the worst way to lose a game of Magic.

That's where you look out the door, go "Nope!", then head back to bed.

I have a Xenagos "double power" deck that basically runs all the power doubling enchants and spells with big dumb stompy things like dinos and dragons. I want this card for it.

Nice. This year has burned me out on Magic, but this set brought my interest back, and it's been fun.

If they still have them, Menards had sets of solid pink, purple, and teal lights that might be of interest. I got some of the teal ones for my collection of lights just because they're different from the usual stuff.

Wow. Must have beat the stereotypes. My wife is from Illinois and I'm from Ohio.
December 9, 2025 at 3:04 AM
You would think, but beliefs are hard to break through. They are deeply etched the longer they are held, and sometimes you just can't beat it into their head how putrid their hateful beliefs are. I'm rooting for a good outcome for you and your sibling.
December 5, 2025 at 3:22 AM
That sucks, but the lack of you being there might engender some regret and shame for acting bigoted toward their own family, hopefully leading to a long-term resolution. But maybe I'm being naive.

Excellent choice for a pick-me-up movie.
December 5, 2025 at 2:41 AM
I lucked into a nice local base, but yeah, the game has room for improvement. I'm fine without instants as it makes you think ahead. I love the 2 color restriction and the resource system of the game. Beats spending tons of money on a mana base. And they don't cram a billion things on one card.

Honestly, it's less disappointing than Magic right now. Fun themes and strategies, and not printing cards that break the game every couple months.

Wait...when did Academy Manufactor get on Arena?
