The list of things to add to my end matter keeps growing. A cast of characters would not go amiss. I think I sufficiently characterise those who need it, but it is a truly sprawling cast at times.

I suppose I just need to find my groove. I have a couple decades of drafting groove under my belt, I should not expect a similar editing groove to manifest in two days.

I can't believe how slowly this is going. And I'm just rearranging my outline! Well, okay, some of the easy fixes I'm just knocking off right now -- aligning a few minor character descriptions, standardising some locations and word choices -- but still.

I did come upon a note I agree with, but regretfully: I'm going to have to do a skeleton dialogue outline for a talking-heavy scene early in the fic. I already knew it was an overlong mess (6! pages!) and I feel confident I can address it, but, yeesh. Editing 6 pages of dialogue is gonna be a pain.

Today I started sorting my punch list by chapter so I can go through my fixes chronologically. Which means I numbered my chapters for the first time! 28! And I've already addressed some of my editing concerns, which is nice to see.

And, since daily wordcounts aren't feasible right now, I'm switching to time blocks. It takes me 1h max to write 500 words, so I usually work 2h daily for my 1000 word comfort zone. That's my new daily target. Faffing around on the internet will have to be severely curtailed.

So I've still got a lot of work ahead of me and (predictably) will (probably) not make that Christmas deadline! But who cares! People have other shit to do over the holidays! Maybe I'll release it in February, everyone knows the best stuff releases then, right?
