Original wooden water pipe from Hampton Court Palace

This was donated to Gerald Heath between 1960-1970
The wooden waterpipe dates from the time of Henry VIlI when he had water transported to Hampton Court Palace for baths. It was from the right hand side of the Palace.

Did you know the reason we display a lovely model of Hampton Court Palace? The old "Borough of Twickenham" was an independent municipal borough created in 1926 & in 1937 was extended to include Hampton, Hampton Wick & Teddington.
In 1965 it become part of the new LBRuT.

A reminder that we have our JMW Turner & West London display on at present. Turner lived locally at Brentford, Isleworth & Hammersmith. Between 1813 & 1826 he and ‘old dad’ lived at Sandycombe Lodge which Turner designed with the help of the architect, Sir John Soane.
