I want to retire early and live a more simple life. My plan is to move to Colombia and get a migrant visa via real estate investment or based on my retirement income. I will be able to either join the public health plan right away or buy private insurance for 1/10 of the US cost.

recently visited Colombia. Their health care system is ranked 22nd in the world. They have a public plan in which people pay a flat rate % of their income (extremely progressive) and employers pay a large % of the contribution. And if you want extra benefits you can buy a supplemental plan.

A friend and I talk a lot about how the beauty of money (small m) is that it allows you to buy your way out of problems. Car broke down? You can afford to fix it.

But it seems with very rich people, the inability for money to "fix" a situation - like mortality - to their liking is THE problem.
