Yes, X is a cesspool of right-wing propaganda from foreign actors looking to sow division. But #mastodon is not immune nor is #bluesky.

I’ve had at least one extended conversation with an Eastern European troll who stopped following me after I questioned him.

Saw a strange line of lights in the Minneapolis sky tonight at 6:30pm. The lights moved from west to east and then went out one by one like they went into a cloud. Anyone see these lights?

“We will follow the law. The law passed both chambers,” she said. “We will continue to follow the law, again, while protecting victims but also providing maximum transparency.” - Pam Bondi

Pam Bondi is following the law? This, in itself, should be big news.

Cory Doctorow makes a lot of sense in his criticism of American big tech. He makes me excited about Mastodon again.

But there are problems. Why is Cory still on X? By participating in big tech, he falls short of practicing what he preaches.

The president said that “a lot of people didn’t like” Jamal Khashoggi, apparently defending his murder.

Do you know who else a lot of people didn’t like? Charlie Kirk. But I would never, ever defend his murder.

This is a dark day for America.

Trump’s name has been redacted from the Epstein files.

This is not the “most transparent administration in history”.

This is a story about experience bias - the tendency to treat our personal experiences as universal truths.

I think this bias pervades San Francisco from the top to the bottom. And the apps we use encourage this terrible impulse.

I watched Adaptation tonight for the first time in over 20 years. The performances hold up: Chris Cooper (amazing), Nicholas Cage (very good) and Meryl Streep (excellent).

The thing that faltered a bit was - ironically - the writing. I

YouTube thinks I need a hoodie. The ad plays nonstop. (I won’t mention the brand here.)

I freaking hate this ad and don’t give 2 💩💩’s about this goddamn hoodie. The guitar noise grates on my soul.
