Democrats may not have all the answers, but at least we believe in good governance!

I'll never stop writing about politics, but it can be depressing, so I'm branching out into Hallmark movie reviews, as in #HallmarkHaven (click on "Latest!")

Is it TOO weird that HELL and HEAVEN both begin with "HE?"
To say that nursing is no longer a professional degree is absurd! Apart from the fact that nurses are the conduit between doctors and the patient, I have always thought nurses were better than doctors, because they will listen to you! Most doctors think their opinion is the only one that matters.

@maddow.bsky.social: (3 1/2 of 3) Sorry! This annoying app so traumatized me (I'm sort of kidding, but I was definitely annoyed!) that I spelled its name wrong. It's "Easy Homescreen," not Easy Homepage, and there was nothing about it that was easy! Definitely the worst app in the world!
November 20, 2025 at 4:00 PM
@maddow.bsky.social: (3/3) When you click on the app, it presents an "uninstall" link, which doesn't work, so you have to click on "app info," which finally presents the real uninstall option. I don't know who designed or sells this piece of crap, but I would definitely avoid installing it!
November 20, 2025 at 3:51 PM
@maddow.bsky.social: (2/3) It makes finding less frequently used apps more difficult, and in one case, it's flat out deceptive! It essentially replaces the Google search function with itself, which is just stupid, and I still don't know exactly how I got rid of the damn thing!
November 20, 2025 at 3:50 PM
@maddow.bsky.social: (1/3) I don't often compare Bluesky apps to an invasion of cockroaches, but "Easy Homepage" deserves the recognition! It bills itself as a way to simplify your home screen to a single page, with subcategories containing all of your actual apps. What it does instead is the worst!

If the working class living in Red State America ever wants to see the restoration of benefits and fairness that the Great Society promised (before being systematically dismantled by the conservative super-majority of our Supremes), folks will have to wake up and just vote straight Democratic Party!
November 20, 2025 at 11:10 AM
@maddow.bsky.social: Publicans (a term for any in the GOP who demean the Democratic Party by leaving the "ic" off its correct title), have tried over and over again to destroy the ACA. This time, they're trying a new tactic, by rebranding it as the (Un)affordable Care Act, hurting their own voters!

This dude's apparently a virtual holdover from the 1950s! I don't have any way to do surveys on Bluesky, but I know a few women who meet or exceed his standard of "becoming independent," so I'll be checking in with them to see if they need any advice on which phone, laptop, bike, or property to buy!

@maddow.bsky.social: I think it's despicable that the Trump/ICE assault on our democracy, currently targeting Charlotte, North Carolina, would use the title of the beloved novel, "Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White, for its operational code name! I'm certain Trump has never read the book. Doofus POTUS!

The amazing thing about this television commercial is that it's produced without a single spoken word! It's clear who the "ringleader" of this crew is and always has been. Her gestures are enough to lead her friends into what could be seen as a scary downhill romp! It's the only TV ad I will watch.
@maddow.bsky.social: I don't know if this video has won any awards, but it should have! It's pretty rare to recycle an ad from a year ago and still be effective, but this one captures the transformative joy of friendship. These 3 women have known each other since they were kids! Good job, Amazon!

#HallmarkHaven: (2/2) So this is my last notation for a while. If you are interested, the reviews all appear in reverse order segments, so you have to scroll down 3, 5 or 9 segments to get to the beginning of a review. Also, the 7-part diatribe preceding these last two segments is a Bluesky review.
November 16, 2025 at 9:02 PM
#HallmarkHaven: (1/2) I have serious doubts about whether anyone in fact reads these movie reviews! I got my hip replaced last winter and ended up watching a lot of Hallmark movies, so it seemed fun to rank them (since some are fine productions and some are real klinkers!) But I'm taking a vacation.

@maddow.bsky.social: I don't disagree with your push to hold Dems accountable, but I think it depends on the House district. Some Representatives live in districts that simply won't vote for a far left politician! We don't want to be the party that eats its own, without recognition of differences.
The voters demonstrated they want a fighting Democratic Party.

Primary the District Representatives who haven’t risen to the moment. Start now.

Take the House back!

@maddow.bsky.social: For the first time in years, Austin has experienced a slight decline in population, so Elon Musk wants people to move here. This is the genius who rampaged through federal agencies, firing critical experts who were later rehired! But by all means, listen to the Musk-rat! Or not.

@maddow.bsky.social: On a lighter note, this is one of the disadvantages of preferring unsliced bread! My kitchen isn't very well lit at night, so I slice bread by feel. I just wasn't feelin' it tonight! Fortunately, I have a rather large mouth, so that gigantic slice at the back wasn't a problem.
November 16, 2025 at 4:01 AM
@maddow.bsky.social: Our corrupt POTUS and equally corrupt Attorney General are scheming together to blame Democrats as potential co-conspirators in the Epstein scandal. With Trump's approval ratings in the low 30s, we will see if he continues to have the ability to deflect attention from himself!
November 15, 2025 at 7:50 AM
@maddow.msnbc.com: Either one of these capable women would have made a better president than the current POTUS. It's a sad commentary on the development of our great nation that we would elect a p**** grabber and convicted criminal rather than break this ridiculous pattern of male dominance!
November 14, 2025 at 5:03 PM
@maddow.msnbc.com: In spite of endless efforts to correct his errors in thinking, Trump believes that foreign countries pay for his tariffs, which are in fact taxes on the American consumer! He has a similar faulty approach when it comes to Venezuela and drug trafficking. So we start a stupid war?
November 12, 2025 at 6:30 PM
@maddow.msnbc.com: Lawrence O'Donnell made a couple of good points during this extended discussion. First, the Senate is completely unlike the unified House of Representatives under a Speaker like Pelosi. Senators have more personal agency! And the final battle in this war will be the 2026 midterms.
November 12, 2025 at 4:34 PM
The Democrats have always been at a serious disadvantage in such circumstances, because we believe in the value of good government. Trump and the GOP would have been just as happy to NEVER reopen D.C., thus fulfilling Reagan's so-called truism of the only good government being no government at all!
November 12, 2025 at 4:09 PM
@maddow.msnbc.com: "The Welfare Queens," a popular meme in the past for the purposes of disparaging poor folks, with images of typically black women cruising in Cadillacs, is just not true! You simply do not get SNAP benefits if you have lots of excess cash to tide you over in a government shutdown.
November 12, 2025 at 4:00 PM
@maddow.msnbc.com: The latest poll has Mallory McMorrow within 4 points of the lead in a multi-person Dem primary, WITH 37% UNDECIDED! I like @mallorymcmorrow.bsky.social because she's from Michigan and her logo looks like the side emblem on the front fender of a classic car! Cruisin' to victory!
November 11, 2025 at 6:28 PM
@maddow.msnbc.com: Mallory McMorrow is an up-and-coming star of the Democratic Party in Michigan. Interestingly, her work history includes a stint as an industrial designer. I haven't seen any polls, so I don't know what the odds are, but she's a clearly viable candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2026!
This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.

We need new leaders in the Senate.

I've recently lost faith in the Google Machine (or GM), which I spell that way to evoke a sense of dehumanization, because Gmail has randomly lost a couple of messages that I had composed and wished to save! But the GM got it right in its spelling of the word "bated," which I had some doubts about.
