Man! That's bad luck. You must be due a break now - except that isn't how statistics works, sadly.

Have you met the human race? I wouldn't hold your breath.

I've done quite a lot of that, on the search for new authors. Some I've never finished, some I've finished but not enjoyed enough to seek out further books by the author. Some have been great discoveries. @markokloos.bsky.social was one such - I've now read many of his books.

No chapters, then?

I'm sure I read a short story by Somerset Maugham once where a character made some amazing use of semicolons. Alas, the details are long gone from my brain and Googling with Bing has failed to find the reference.

Not sure I'd eat those mushrooms; they seem to have turned her hair orange.

Ah, so you're already a convert. I'm afraid I do mostly sandwich loaves for slicing these days, though I have just done a panettone and last week a focaccia. Had to give up on the sour dough but I'd like to start one again. Does yours have a name? Mine was the Beast from the Yeast.

If like to be able to blame Margaret Thatcher for this mess, but even she wasn't that stupid. It was blooming John Major!

Can I recommend making your own bread. I've made all ours since lock down began. Once you've had the real thing you won't want to go back to CBP bread.

I never knew any of my grand parents, so I don't think that technology would do a lot for me.

I enjoy reading your articles and have followed you for years on ZDNet. But please, what do I have to do to stop that damned auto video from playing in Firefox every time I go into an article? The usual about:config settings don't seem to work.

I agree, but I've noticed with top 100 film categories that opinions tend to far more diverse with comedy than any other category. BTW, if we're talking animated films I'd have put Chicken Run and Up! in there.

Me too. I'm not really a fan of the Coen's films in general, but I did enjoy Raising Arizona. Watched Barton Fink with my sister - she thought it was great, I didn't get it at all. Really can't see what the fuss was about with the Big Lebowski or Fargo.

What a weird photo. He looks like a waxwork at Madame Tussauds.

But Starbucks don't make coffee. They make coffee flavoured milk shakes.

Another cause would be having the pressure too low, especially with the state of the roads where I live. So happy to have said goodbye to inner tubes. Not had to fix a flat at the roadside in over 7,000 miles.

Mashed potato makes a surprisingly good basis for a gluten free lemon drizzle cake.

That's because it actually is a hybiscus - at least, in the rest of the world. In the UK, a Rose of Sharon is generally a pretty yellow flower. I gather that in the bible it likely referred to a crocus.
