Israel signals another imminent round of mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza Israel says it will “respond accordingly” after citing an alleged IED explosion it claims wounded an Israeli officer, signaling plans to resume large-scale bombing of Gaza. No evidence of the incident has been released. The claim echoes an earlier incident days after the ceasefire began on October 10, 2025, when Israel blamed Hamas for an explosion near Rafah and used it to justify heavy strikes that killed dozens of Palestinians. U.S. officials later indicated the blast was likely caused by an Israeli vehicle hitting unexploded Israeli ordnance. A senior U.S. source said at the time: “Hamas did nothing.” Since the ceasefire took effect, Israel has violated it dozens of times every day, killing and injuring more than 1,500 Palestinians, without presenting evidence that a single victim posed a threat to Israeli forces. Israel has also deliberately blocked food, medical aid, and shelter materials, enforcing starvation, disease, and exposure. Now, after months of lethal siege enforcement, it is invoking a familiar pretext to return to mass bombardment. In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office under Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire, demanded disarmament and political removal, and pointed to the alleged IED as justification for escalation.
