In 1999, resident Louis Massano eloquently writes why the previous boondoggle Turnpike expansion through Jersey City was a horrible idea. The proposed expansion was ultimately unsuccessful due to local opposition: www.geocities.ws/hartwheels/C...

Governor Murphy has defunded investment in NJ Transit by $2.4B over 10 years while increasing funding for highway expansions to $24B over 10 years. It is no accident our trains and buses are constantly breaking down.

The Turnpike already causes multiple air quality issues. Expanding it will inevitably make things worse, and due to particulate matter from tire and brake dust, EVs won't fix the problem.

Jersey City's population has grown 25% yet Turnpike Extension traffic has not. It is a lie used to justify the wasteful project. Population growth has not led to more Turnpike traffic over the last 15 years. We need more transit.

Great rally, thank you to our elected leaders and community members for standing up and fighting back. Two of tonight's many highlights:
1. 👏 Mayor @stevenfulop.bsky.social promised litigation to slow down and stop this project
2. ❤️ Our youngest advocate & speaker an 11-year old LCCS student!

Tell your representatives at the County to vote NO to NJ Turnpike bribes. Call (201) 795-6200 or write to hcexecoffice@hcnj.us and tell Craig Guy not to sell out Hudson County.

Our air is not for sale. Our health is not for sale. Our streets are not for sale.

The cities of Jersey City and Hoboken, including unanimous city councils, oppose the turnpike expansion. Three gubernatorial candidates--@stevenfulop, @rasbaraka, and @seanspiller--have spoken out against it.

More than 60 organizations and nonprofits have opposed the expansion.

The NJ Turnpike has offered Hudson County $150,000 to cooperate on the turnpike expansion project in exchange for the County’s support to double the size of the turnpike through Hudson County. This will also double the amount of pollution and cars and trucks on our streets. Read more ⬇️
