Yep. New actor, new storyline, new continuity. That's how it should be. For me, anyway. That's why I found it so jarring that Judi Dench was back as M after Pierce Brosnan's tenure.

I'm not trying to be dismissive of Guillermo del Toro's version. He's a super talented filmmaker, but his version of this story is just not really for me, and that's ok!
