At the end of the day, community is what you make of it. Even focusing on your family and close friends is good enough. If you can expand out to neighbors - great. Create or join a group for your town + connect ppl together. We don't need to make a big show of things by organizing huge events.

Communication is everything. Practice that balance of being assertive and compassionate. Take a breath before you speak. Don't take things personally. We NEED to be prepared for the worst of this. We can only do that if we're openly expressing what we can do physically, mentally, emotionally, etc

We have this tendency to believe we have to push ourselves and do it all, or else we're not being good activists. This is the hustle culture / capitalist mindset. We have to expect others to pull their weight (to their own ability). Hold them accountable. Express when you can't meet needs.

V important as we ramp up into more active participation in mutual aid. I've learned some difficult lessons in assisting others. Do what you can for yourself first + give others the excess of your care. Yes, this means prioritizing your job too. That's your source of income that you need to survive.
