I don't totally disagree with this but I think it's missing something. These AI products are systems engineers introduced into the world. And their interactive personalized nature seem much more likely to induce reality breaks than mass media like TV in vulnerable populations. So what safety...
This is a good story, but I'd caution people against believing that chatbots are inducing delusions or altered states without more evidence. These examples read more like people experiencing mania or other states verging on psychosis for whom a chatbot happened to be the focus of their delusions.
