A feminist who wants a partner? → Weak

A queer person who doesn’t “look” queer? → Not queer enough

An environmentalist who flies once a year? → Hypocrite

A vegan who eats cheese sometimes? → Fake vegan

Ever notice how every identity starts with empowerment... Then slowly turns into pressure?

Social media has completely changed the concept of closure.

A fleeting connection is rarely just fleeting anymore.

Once upon a time, a casual hookup meant spending a night together, parting ways, and never thinking about them again.

Now?

I spent years building the digital world.
Phones. Apps. Software.

My first tech job was at Nokia, then I moved to Microsoft — two companies that epitomise the digital world.

I was all in—testing, researching, advocating for digitalising everything.
It was my career, after all.

Are we holding on too tight?

When it comes to our identity and well-being, we often grip too hard—on our job, our status, our family, even our creative work.

But here's the thing...

A hug that’s too tight?
It suffocates.
A hug that’s too loose?
It disconnects.

Scroll through social media, and you’re bombarded with messages like:

👉 “Find your true purpose!”
👉 “Turn your purpose into work!”
👉 “Discover how to make your purpose profitable!”

And I can’t help but wonder—has this obsession with purpose gone too far?

"Find your niche!" they say.
But creativity doesn’t play by business rules.
Artists are explorers by nature. We thrive when we experiment.
Embrace being multi-passionate!

Aging gracefully.

It sounds beautiful, doesn’t it? But what does it actually mean?

Here’s the truth:
The phrase comes with hidden expectations—ones we rarely discuss.

I was 21 when I left my parents’ house. What started as an eight-month adventure turned into twelve years.

What happens when you leave behind everything you've ever known?

In my latest post, I discuss the profound impact that moving to a new country can have on one's identity and self-perception.
moving abroad won’t fix you, but it will change you forever
what happens when you say goodbye to everything you've known?

"Brain rot" is Oxford's Word of the Year for 2024
Perfectly sums up the digital age we’re living in - something we've all felt:
⚡ The subtle erosion of attention and focus.
⚡ The endless scroll of low-quality content.
⚡ The societal impact of prioritizing quantity over quality online.

Are we all just scrolling through life? 🤔

I nearly fell off my chair when I read this: Interruptions can lower your IQ by 10 to 15 points.

For perspective:
A 10-point drop is twice the effect of smoking weed.
A 15-point drop? Equivalent to pulling an all-nighter.

More on this in my latest post ☝🏼

As someone who works in tech, I’ve been reflecting on this more and more lately.

We’ve built a culture that often works against our human nature.

Is our sense of self and well-being overly reliant on our job, status and family?

I keep thinking of a nice hug. A hug that’s too tight can make us feel suffocated, while a hug that’s too loose can make us feel disconnected. The right amount of contact makes us feel truly connected rb.gy/kgmdo7

Detachment is not that you own nothing.

Detachment is that nothing owns you.

🙅🏻‍♀️ Capitalism wants us to grow up and join the rat race, working 40 hours a week because it thrives when we become numb and stop questioning the world we live in.

🙅🏻‍♀️ Capitalism trains us to equate our self-worth with productivity, fostering a culture that glorifies overwork and undervalues "play."

I think the greatest need of our time is to clear out the enormous mass of mental rubbish that clutters our mind, and one of the most critical skills both now and in the future is the ability to be selective and conscious about what we feed our minds with on a daily basis.
November 19, 2024 at 1:31 PM
In our hustle-driven society, play is often seen as a luxury rather than a necessity. But prioritising play is an act of rebellion against a culture that measures our worth by productivity alone 🙅🏻‍♀️

Ever think about what made your childhood hours fly by?✨
November 17, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Embracing play enriches our lives and challenges the foundations of a capitalist society that thrives on our compliance. The joy of playing and the simple pleasure of being present are acts of rebellion 🙅🏻‍♀️
