I support the PRO Act for strengthening unions and workers. But that isn't sufficient on its own. And for clarity, this proposal does not institute a wage cap. It institutes a corporate tax increase on organizations that decide to compensate their CEOs excessively. Tax code is quite adaptable.

Yes, that is another massive aspect of wealth inequality. To start getting after that I also support S.2845 - Billionaires Income Tax Act.

That's still a substantial difference and is really still quite an imbalance

To be clear, this proposal doesn’t say that CEOs can’t be well compensated for their role. It’s just a matter of setting a realistic scale compared to the median worker. It doesn’t kick in until there is a 50x difference. If the median is 50k then a CEO could make well over $2 million still.

Compensation** I should say. That is key. Wish I could edit.

"CEO pay isn't tied to a better working wage for people."

I'm not sure you read the bill if this is your take. The tax increases are based on the ratio of CEO pay to median worker pay. Also, this is one tool to address the problem. Clearly its not a singular solution.

Thanks for sharing! I did get a chance to read that one and then went back and read the older story from when rumors originally seemed to start back in May as well.

Rumors of a wealthy landowner swirl after Maine hiking land closes

It is a Federal issue. To my knowledge the only way remove an "uncooperative" US Senator is by expulsion with a 2/3rds majority of the senate. Otherwise you have to wait for the term to end normally or look for a resignation.

I may have to resign in disgrace now. Or at the very least copy the definition of a lectern from a dictionary a few times as penance.

In the theme of town halls, if you feel like you live in an area that often gets overlooked, then let me know and I’ll see what we can do to remedy that. Everyone deserves to be heard.

Thank you so much for supporting those in need here in Maine! Strong communities are essential to making it through these tough times. I will add your donation to my list for matching. Thanks again!

The county committee in the area might organize an event with all the candidates, but I’m not sure if the Maine Dems state level group will do any others. It’s a bit early to tell though. It’s likely that other larger events with all candidates won’t be until early next year.
November 15, 2025 at 1:19 PM
I’m not sure about any other similar events that the Maine Dems will put on, but many county level committees appear to be planning events for early next year that involve all the candidates. So one certainly might end up in or around Bangor. No guarantees though.

Yeah, I would admittedly much prefer a simple potluck kind of event, but I really need to take every chance I can to reach more folks. I had to go to formal events as an Army officer here and there, so at least I’m used to it to some extent. Been using the same suit for like a decade now heh

Forgot to address the other point: I don't believe the false narrative being spread by the other side that non-citizens are somehow voting and "undermining" our elections. That is not my concern here.

younger generations instead of continually running for office. I've said as much publicly before. My proposal inserts a mandatory gap after two terms that helps accomplish this. But voters still get a say. If they really liked a previous senator, then they might vote for them again in the future. /5
