So no, I am not willing to give the Democrats credit for being in favor of trans rights on paper, when in practice, they aren’t willing to put their careers on the line as Civil Rights-era politicians demonstrably did by comparison. They could have done better in the election, and still can (8/8)

That distinction is important because LGBTQ+ issues as a broad spectrum will always perform better than trans issues do individually, because the fight for gay/lesbian rights have already had extensive public coverage, which has in turn led to more widespread acceptance of the topic (3/X)

An important thing to note with those cited examples: only one of Harris’s statements is in explicit support of trans people specifically, rather than the LGBTQ+ community on the whole, and that one example took place BEFORE Biden was replaced by Harris as the Democratic candidate (2/X)
