Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato said Japan won’t use the sale of its U.S. Treasury holdings in trade talks with Washington, clarifying his previous remarks that suggested they could be used as a negotiating tool.
"After decades of neglect and declining competitiveness, the U.S. commercial shipbuilding industry has virtually collapsed. China’s largest state-owned shipbuilder built more commercial vessels by tonnage in 2024 than the entire U.S. shipbuilding industry has built since World War II."
