It needs some performance overhauls that I'm about halfway through right now. Around then, we might start integrating.

There is still a lot more to do here, especially around synchronization and multi-protocol support, but building a product that people can spend a little more time using is vital.

Basically the matrix, but instead of our juicy bits we're just monetized entropy

they actually have decent solar power these days; they don't need electricity. we're the electricity. the more they have on us, the more they can sell back to companies and the more they can make that useful to us so we'll pay for it, the more real, actual power they have.

working on OSS solutions.

Please RT the above post. The patreon link is here. You can donate anonymously if you'd prefer. We're having a bit of a delay withdrawing but I think we can get that sorted out if a lot of donations come in.

If you want justification to donate, request a demo before you consider donating a significant amount. My email is erik at hollensbe dot org. The github is here: github.com/trunk-os -- all of the code is there. The code is copyrighted until it's done. I have a 25 year history doing OSS.

And it's all ready to be privately managed with time bombs and activity-based self-destruction capabilities to protect your privacy, long-term archiving (just add storage over time) and revision management, several levels of encryption. It's not meant for enterprises, it's meant for you.

This all works today. What I'm working on now is a comprehensive object storage layer... so you can escape things like Google Cloud and iCloud entirely. Or, you can store your legal documents there at a legal firm with full archiving, encryption, etc -- some of this already works.

Right now, you can install services with a minimal amount of effort -- just a few clicks and answer a few basic questions most people, even non-techs, can quickly google and understand -- and they set themselves up, from storage to network, and can open themselves up to the world if you want.

The UI is similarly shaped -- while generally catering towards administrator-type roles (such as a head of household, adults, air B&B or coffee shop owner maybe), it provides stats, storage management, and novel service management.

And it's TRYING to make it so easy that you don't have to be a nerd to use it. The process is literally take an old computer, insert USB, power it on. That's the goal and we're not quite there, but we're reallllllly close and have a basic proof of concept.

Trunk is building a comprehensive suite of tools to keep your sacred data off cloud providers that may be doing stuff with your data that you don't want -- feeding it to AI, looking at it, sharing it with other companies -- by allowing and empowering you to get the same functionality from home.

There's more planned here, but you'll have to wait a bit for a demonstration.
