Doing my own little part to win elections, restore sanity and save America from a President and party that has gone off the rails. Organize. Donate. Register. Vote. 🏳️🌈
This gets back to my earlier point.
I’d rather have the policy win (making sure ACA demands are met) vs a political win (putting the GOP in the hot seat).
But 8 Dems said otherwise, and now we need to tell everyone on the ACA that the fate of their subsidies rest solely in GOP hands.

I often think the same thing. And then I immediately realize there’s no alternative, and then I jump right back in.

Yes, the Dem cave was outrageous and horrible for morale.
We’ll deal with that over time.
But it’s also true that the overall pressure is now on the GOP, and the open enrollment premium increase notices only exacerbate that.
It’s time to make ‘em sweat and try to save some lives in the process.

And this could very well be true.
But we’ll never know for sure, and in the end, short of investigative reporting, we can only go on how they actually voted.

Except that there is a lot of theorizing on here that many more Dems supported it and they decided who should take the blame. Hard to know what to think/believe……..

But at the end of the day let’s remember that ALL Republicans voted for this along with those handful of Democrats.
We need more Democrats and we need better Democrats, and I think we can get both over the course of these next few months.

As for Chuck Schumer’s role, yes it’s great that he voted NO.
But it really speaks poorly of his leadership that he let this happen under his watch(whether he quietly sanctioned it or not…who knows?).
He’d been doing so well and seemed to have learned some lessons, but now we have THIS.

I’d rather us win the policy argument over the political argument because lives are at stake, and my genuine confusion was that I believed we had the upper hand. I get the other considerations, but they just don’t outweigh healthcare in my mind, and apparently most Democratic Senators agree.

The legitimately bad humanitarian news is that this probably dooms ACA subsidies from being extended (we’ll see) and people will suffer greatly as a result.
The cynically good political news is that regardless of this cave, the GOP will still bear the majority of that blame if it happens.

So many other individual stories in this article about the impossible choices people are having to make.
