Big Mets W to secure the sweep. Bullpen full of Dawgs, excellent work today from Kranick, Garrett, Minter, and Sugar and as a whole all weekend. Hope nothing major is wrong with Peterson, who looked good before dealing with some discomfort. Bats gotta get going eventually but I believe they will.

What a huge 8th inning by Torrens.

- Subbed in and got a hit
- Went from 1st to 3rd on Lindor's single
- Sacrificed himself to prevent Miami getting a double play, giving Alonso the opportunity to tie the game
- tagged out Edwards at home
- threw out Conine at second

No Mets game on a Sunday seems criminal to me. Another L under Manfred's watch.

The Mets will wear a No. 7 patch to honor Ed Kranepool.

Art Shamsky:

“Of all the stats and records Ed accomplished throughout his career, the thing he was most proud of was that he spent his entire Major League career in a Mets uniform.“

1 day till Mets Opening Day

To piggyback off of the previous post and to close it our countdown, let's highlight our Mets first no hitter, thrown by Mets Ace Johan Santana. Johan threw 134 pitches and struck out 8 Cardinals on June 1, 2012 and got Citi Field rocking seeing an Amazin' moment.

3 days till Mets Opening Day

There have been 15 instances where a Met has hit 3 homeruns in a game, with Yoenis Cespedes the only player to have done more than once. The most occurrence was in 2021 when Francisco Lindor smashed 3 homeruns in a win over the cross town rival Yankees.

4 days till Mets Opening Day

The most steals in a game by a Mets player is 4. The first Met to set the mark was Vince Coleman, who accomplished the feat in 1992 and 1993, followed by Roger Cedeño in 1999 and most recently the Captain, David Wright ten years to the day in 2009.

The lights never seem to bright for Mark Vientos and that was never more evident than in his first playoff run as the young star led the Mets and the NL with 5 homeruns in the 2024 postseason.

Brett Baty is 2-for-3 with a double and a home run today, plus another clutch defensive play (albeit at third base, not second). The guy is doing everything he can to make the team.

6 days till Mets Opening Day

Edgardo Alfonzo became the first Met to record 6 hits in a game, hitting three homers, a double and two singles against the Astros in 1999. He would be joined by Wilmer Flores in 2016, who accomplished the feat with two homers and four singles against the Cubs.
