Birder, grandmother, epidemiologist, midwesterner, life long UU. Likes food related articles, brainy intellectuals. Once wrote a book on firearm injuries and deaths as a public health problem.
On the other hand, this guy is balancing on top of pipe repurposed as yard art scooping up food from a “squirrel-proof” bird feeder.

I’ve always loved them but since I live in the Midwest, it’s not too often. Two years ago, a flock foraged along the shores of a nearby urban lake.

My father was a scientist who explored early treatment of tuberculosis. He died in 1987 when the disease had become rare. Every time I read of new pockets of disease, I think death is such a waste.

My father who studied tuberculosis his entire career died in 1987 when the disease had become unusual if not rare.

I did this too-rehabbing a quilt that was on my bed as a child-70 years ago! Originally made by my maternal great grandmother. Only two of the original hexagons can be seen.

Finished my latest vintage quilt restoration -a faceless Sunbonnet Sue covered with the Hunters Stars inherited from my mother-in-law. They have been waiting for the right use.

Christmas Count, Columbia County Wisconsin. 🪶🪶🪶Highlights were flocks of White-winged Crossbills, 12 Bald Eagles, and 2 Yelliw-rumped Warblers plus these cuties. Always the first Saturday after December 25.

📌currently oversewing stars made from feedsacks by my mother in law onto a girls quilt with a faceless Sunbonnet Sue in faint colors. Very satisfying.

This was part of a group of five-3 adults and 2 juveniles. They stayed at the location in Port Washington and moved to south central Wisconsin for another day or so. September ‘23 when Flamingoes were seen in several states. Quite the scene! Lots of excitement, birders and non birders alike.
