The government’s approach to public health should be based on science, not religious devotion or political allegiance.

Evidence, not prayer, is what will end childhood disease.

Government-mandated Bible readings in public schools?

That’s not religious freedom—that’s religious coercion.

The Constitution protects students from exactly this kind of government overreach.

And so do we.
An Idaho Republican has filed a bill that would force public schools to read from the King James Bible every day.

As a slap in the face to church/state separation, it's called the "School-Sponsored Bible Reading Act."

The Republican-backed bill is blatantly illegal. So naturally, they're pretending there's historical precedent for it.

It's clear that this change is intended to muddy the waters and allow school staff members to claim that their attempts to coerce or pressure students into participating in prayer are simply "encouragements."
Texas Republicans are pushing a bill to create designated prayer and Bible time in public schools.

Tucked away in the bill is an even more damning change that would let teachers "encourage" prayer during school activities.

We're glad to see @americanhumanist.bsky.social and @acluwv.bsky.social challenging this egregious abuse of taxpayer dollars to support religion.

Christian nationalists across the country are emboldened and we must do everything we can to protect the separation between church and state.
