🚨🚨🚨 OBSCURE TROTS AND BONNIE TIDBIT 🚨🚨🚨

I might be going insane... I can't find a single mention or sale of this specific Trots and Bonnie T-shirt besides its appearances on and after the October 1988 issue of NL. Does anyone have another photo, listing, or general proof it physically exists?
Advertised "Trots and Bonnie" t-shirt from the October 1988 issue of National Lampoon. The first run of these shirts would've been signed by Shary but later runs did not include this. I can't find a SINGLE mention or photo of this damn shirt outside National Lampoon. Was a single shirt ever sold or did it fall victim to the dastardly corporate takeover by Dan and Tim?

Sometimes I really love the city. BONNIE: There are days when i actually say... Hello City! Beautiful morning, isn't it!? BONNIE: And then... ya know what? TROTS: Naturally BONNIE: It never answers. TROTS: It doesn't even hear the question. [Bonnie grabs the door handle of "Yee Olde Trucke Stoppe" and enters it. A truck driver is seen giving his order to a waitress.] TRUCK DRIVER: Gimme a fruit sandwich.

[Bonnie exits the front of the school as Trots waits for her.] BONNIE: Trots! TROTS: What's the matter, Bonnie? Are you sick? BONNIE: No... BONNIE: I'm wounded! [The back of Bonnie's pants are shown. There is a large dark splotch near her bottom that greatly upsets her.] BONNIE: I told that nasty Michael Gillie not to put tacks on my chair! TROTS: If he'd done it, he would have left a note saying, "Zorro was here." [Bonnie begins to crouch and hold her stomach tightly.] BONNIE: Ow, ow! What ever happened, it hurts! TROTS: You don't know what it is? TROTS: Didn't they show you those movies "For Girls Only"? BONNIE: Is this what those movies were about? TROTS: Well, let's go to the drugstore and get some Rit "Crimson Clover" Dye... TROTS: ...And you can pick up a box of Tampax. BONNIE: Don't you have to be twenty one to buy that?

[Bonnie and Pepsi are dressed in medical uniforms, preparing to administer a vasectomy on poor, Elrod.] PEPSI: Shears! BONNIE: Are we gonna take out his tonsils or his prefrontal robe, Doctor? [Bonnie hands Pepsi the garden shears.] PEPSI: No, Nurse— wrong end... this is a vasectomy! TROTS: As usual, Pepsi's not interested in his mind. PEPSI: I told Elrod he could "do it" to me if he let me sterilize him first. TROTS: Elrod's going to wish she'd sterilized those garden shears first. [Pepsi lifts up the covers, preparing to perform the surgery.] PEPSI: Hold still, Elrod, this won't hurt a bit. BONNIE: Gee, if we did it Trots, maybe he'd have more girlfriends... [Trots realizes that Pepsi is actually neutering Elrod and tries to stop her.] TROTS: NO, WAIT! ELROD: AAIIEEE!! [Trots is unsuccessful. ROKO KOKO: I see you are trying to communicate through feeble two-dimensional images... BONNIE: No, I'm drawing a picture of that tree. ROKO KOKO: And I suppose you call it art?! BONNIE: Well? Why not? ROKO KOKO: That is only a faulty duplication of beauty which already exists! ROKO KOKO: True art is active... here I will make some real art for you! [Roko fashions a noose out of rope while Bonnie and Trots watch.] ROKO KOKO: This knot is mere craftmanship! ROKO KOKO: To use it is art! I know I'm breaking shabbos but I've once again forgotten Shary was in Air Pirates! Here's one normal and one immediately controversial comic strip from 1971's "The Tortoise and the Hare", reprinted from Air Pirates.

As a meta tidbit, around the late 70s, National Lampoon started selling these little cute pin buttons of various different Funny Pages characters. My Dad had a Trots and Bonnie pin but he sadly lost his during Helene.

Luckily, he still has that BK Taylor pin with that old lady I can't remember lol

There was no Trots and Bonnie comic in the issue of National Lampoon's "Prejudice" for April 1973. However, I've just remembered that Shary made a couple of TnB strips for the 1st issue of "Merton of the Movement" around January 1972... 🫠

I'll be inserting these missing issues whenever needed lol!

Bonnie presents a singing dog act with her dog Trots to raise money for ice cream. However, this fails because Trots' singing can only be heard by Bonnie. Trots chastises her for the act in face of all the atrocities in the world although admits to being willing to do it anyways.

Shary Flenniken was ahead of her time. Her superb linework, humor, and frank willingness to put feminist issues at the forefront by satirizing the hypocrisies of her day was revolutionary!

Although overshadowed and certainly not perfect, I think we should appreciate TnB for what it was.
