Thrilled to share our new paper @cp-cell.bsky.social:
“Microglia–astrocyte crosstalk regulates synapse remodeling via Wnt signaling.”

This work demonstrates the necessity of glia–glia communication and coordination during synapse remodeling.

It was a lot of fun co-writing this Spotlight with a talented graduate student @jingyiyang0321.bsky.social in my lab. Congrats to @fchrisbennett.bsky.social @nachoriko.bsky.social @waisenberg.bsky.social @Movahedi lab on these two important papers on microglia replacement! @cp-immunity.bsky.social
Hello world! My first post here, and it's a special one!

I'm excited to share that my first piece of work in grad school titled "Microglia Replacement: From Monocytic Origin to Therapy" is now online in Trends in Immunology!

Read it here: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Microglia replacement: from monocytic origin to therapy
Microglia replacement is reshaping neurodegenerative disease therapy, yet its key prerequisites remain unclear. In the current issue of Immunity, Aise…

Norepinephrine signals through astrocytes to modulate synapses
Locus ceruleus (LC)–derived norepinephrine (NE) drives network and behavioral adaptations to environmental saliencies by reconfiguring circuit functional connectivity, but the underlying synapse-level...

Our lab's 1st paper, led by @fchrisbennett.bsky.social & @waisenberg.bsky.social. A decade thinking how to directly assess the impact of microglia replacement. Yrs of hard work. This kind of work is needed to expand brain disease care for kids & the vision for safer, more effective cell therapy.
