It's the "and we believe him" that pisses me off more than anything. It's so unnecessary, and without it they could just hide behind plausible deniability. But no, she had to go ALL IN.

Whenever people get romantic notions about subsistence farming, I point out that, historically, people have taken the option to do LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE if given the chance.

It's a fact of life for illustrators that we're less likely to get hired for high profile books by successful authors, because all those need on the cover is their name in a big font.

Yeah, but the nature of this medium lends itself to snap reactions, not measured consideration. We're all probably going to be villain of the day eventually. Kudos to how you're handling it.

Part of the problem is that there's no byline on the article (also sus), so when people started sharing the post around, they assumed you were sharing something that you wrote.

Yeah, gotcha. Sorry to be part of the pile-on, but this is, as I'm sure you know, not a subject that brings out the best among illustrators.
