Today is the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands. It has made me proud to watch the ceremony at Groesbeek Cemetery honoring the crucial role played by Canada, which resulted in an enduring friendship between our countries. It is comforting to be reminded of our honorable history.

Beautiful, quintessentially Canadian!
My father, born in the US of Canadian parents, back in Canada as a boy, enlisted in the RCAF as a teenager and served in the Commonwealth Air Training Program which prepared thousands of pilots and air crew for combat. Most of this before his birth country finally entered the allied war effort.
While America was conceding Europe to the Nazis, 17 and 18 year old Canadians were keeping the Atlantic free and fighting in spitfires.
Their spirit is with us now.
Trump can insult and try to provoke but he has no clue who he is messing with.

Way to go Ontario! A small minority of Ontario electors (42.9% of the 45% who voted, 19% of eligible voters) gave Ford and his gang a strong majority. Progressives (NDP, LIB, and GREEN) took 53% of votes cast, protecting their party identities instead of forming a victorious coalition! STUPID!
