After my parents’ divorce, that room was like a visual hug.
It reminded me of who I was and what mattered most when the world outside felt unpredictable.
I didn’t know it then, but I’d created a haven. A place that held me when life tilted.

One wall held the Louisville Ballet poster of a pointe shoe on an egg. Nearby was a ship at sea with this quote I’d handwritten:
“A ship in a harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.”
