I wrote a ridiculous number of

"I'm almost out of thermal clips."
"Need to find a thermal clip."
"Got a thermal clip!"

Barks. And then THANKFULLY we found out it was incredibly annoying and did not use them except in extremely limited cases.

But again, this has been a thing for a long time. Ask @mikelaidlaw.bsky.social if it's possible the player might get confused about the Red Silk Grass vs the Bearded Tongue Grass in 2005's Jade Empire, and maybe a character should explain it just one or two or three more times to be safe.

But despite the fact that players could literally reach the next plot beat if they just followed the waypoint and killed whatever was in their way, I still ended up having to put in reminders that felt overly handhold-y to me, because heaven forbid players who don't pay attention feel bad.

I once had to argue, "The cutscene explained it. The ambient once the player started walking explained it. If there player is still confused, they don't even have to open the journal. There's task text right on screen literally saying what to do next, and a little glowing waypoint to walk towards!"

Used him as the basis for a superhero in a one-shot I was running. May also have him as a plush.

The only unexpected bit is that one of my cats accidentally activated the scanner once by sitting on it, and after seeing how we all reacted, he now hops up and pushes the button when he wants attention.

I go through months of printing nothing and then needing to print out a couple hundred pages, double-sided, in a few hours, and it just works.

Oh, to be clear, the writer HATES using ChatGPT and apparently has to do so. You can look back at his earlier articles, linked in the first paragraph, that just boil down to, "Seriously. buy whatever Brother black-and-white is on sale. They're fine." But now META-SEARCH OPTIMIZATION.

Backing up Stephanie here. A writer on the Verge posts basically the same article every year, and it is staggering in its simplicity: www.theverge.com/tech/641940/...
