If I have to create video for a course, I'm used to doing it myself on my phone. This time, I was able to work with real videographers, and I even got to do the clapper before each take! It makes such a huge difference.

Thanks for the fun #LearnChat. I'm going to make this a regular part of my week. See, being selfish with my time to learn new things to be more productive with my time. #LearnChat

A7. Selfishness! I need to schedule time for learning, and then be selfish enough to take that time for myself. #LearnChat
Q7: Reflecting on today's discussion about learning goals and expectations, what is one key takeaway or insight that you plan to apply in your work this year? #LearnChat

A6. Time. Time to learn takes away from personal time, work time, unwind time. And finding the course you want (way too many options on lets say Udemy), signing up for that course, taking the course, etc., well, that's time away from Jimmy. #LearnChat

A6. Managers are always a risk to ppl achieving their learning goals/expectations. Managers often want PERFORMANCE, not time away from the desk (even though that time might actually increase performance). #LearnChat
Q6: Looking ahead, what challenges might hinder achieving your learning expectations, and how can they be addressed? #LearnChat

A5: I love to learn for learning's sake, but many in corporate America (where I work), just want to get a payraise/promotion - not necessarily learn. #LearnChat
A5. My issue with this is that often personalized learning goals exist w/in the confines of 1-1 coaching w/manager, and are never tied to actual performance reviews. If it's learning for learning's sake, and doesn't positively impact your career trajectory, what's the point? #LearnChat
Q5: How can technology better support personalized learning goals for individuals or teams? What tech/apps do you use? #LearnChat

A4. I think we need to define who gets to measure the "impactfulness". Is it front-line managers, C-suite, legal? #LearnChat

A4. It depends. I mean, if they have no expectations, and are forced to come to a training session/course and have an epiphany, well, expectations were zero. #LearnChat

Can you set expectations for informal or social learning? I'm struggling to elucidate my thoughts, but my gut says that performance is the main way to measure this stuff. Especially if i'ts informal learning. #LearnChat

A3. If you come at this from the angle of celebrating those who perform or provide the informal or social learning, you run the risk of burning them out and/or adding too many ppl to their workday. #LearnChat
Q3: What are some creative ways to set and measure expectations for informal or social learning? #LearnChat

@tracyparish.bsky.social @quinnovator.bsky.social I've used the feed you sent, set up a column, set the refresh rate for 15 seconds, and I only see posts/tweets/WhatEverTheyAreCalled from people I follow. Any thoughts? #LearnChat

I like making it a daily expectation, and part of my workday. If I don't learn, I can't be as effective. #LearnChat
A1) I’ve blocked out 60 minutes of time before my workday for intentional learning. There are some things I want to learn & skills I want to develop. Putting it on my calendar helps keep myself accountable.

A2. I'm not sure exactly how to do this (re workplace needs) as the needs seem to change faster and faster each year, yet somehow still stay the same. Anyone else experience that? #LearnChat
Q2: How do you plan to align learning goals with evolving workplace needs or societal trends this year? #LearnChat

A1. I need to re-grow my network. It was strong and healthy on Twitter, but now it's just a remnant of what it was. And it all starts w/interacting and learning from you during #LearnChat.
