“We all make each other better in the squad don’t we?”

Our athletes pushing each other on to achieve some incredible half marathon times this weekend.

One athlete went from a 2.46 half marathon in March, to a 1.59 yesterday!

How good is that?!

“A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.”

We’ve been changing lives through triathlon coaching since 2018.

“It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.”

The power of 1-1 swim sessions is real.

Big squads, big energy!

All four of our Swim Squad sessions were packed this week - almost 100 swimmers in total!

Lots of buzz.
Lots of enthusiasm.
Lots of energy.

Amazing to see what this community has grown into.

We’re going to need a bigger pool!

Loving it.

Will I manage to fit in another one this weekend?

“I’ve got to say, without having you there to hold me accountable, I’m not sure I’d have done that session. Set off for work about 6:30am and got in after 7pm, but I knew I had it to get done and I did it.”

Accountability: Just one of the reasons athletes value coaching.

Ironman Portugal-Cascais

What a day of racing!

Another five of our Swim Squad join our Swim Squad Ironman wall of fame!

It’s been a privilege to be part of their journeys, supporting them and watching their progress over many months.

Monday Swim Squads this week …

Technique Focus: Developing our catch and improving our body position.

Main Set Focus: VO2 Max set. High speed, high effort, high heart rate.

We’re all improving one session at a time!

Enjoying my running at the moment. Mostly short runs, mostly steady pace, always with short walk breaks.

Slowly, slowly …

It’s marathon race week!

We have lots of our athletes running London, Manchester & Blackpool marathons this weekend.

Exciting!

The hard work is done and it’s now all about recovery, freshening and a little sharpening.

We’ve got this!

Three consecutive rides to end the week. Friday, and Saturday indoors (1.45 each) and then today’s four hour group ride with many of our Swim Squad.

The quest for bike fitness continues!

Would you rather …

1️⃣ Use part of your swim session to think about your stroke / do some drills / technique focus

Or

2️⃣ Get stuck in to the work / main set?

🤷‍♂️

The 52 Session!

600m warm up
52 x 50m
52 x 25m

Did this today in case I didn’t get a chance next week.

Was aiming for 52 x 50m off 52s - but blew up a bit after 20 (went off a bit too fast!).

Loved it though!

Reducing Rest Intervals!

Last nights Swim Squad was all about swimming strong, staying consistent, holding pace and form, whilst rest intervals were reducing.

The swimmers attacked the set with their usual enthusiasm.

1800m main set included 12 x 100m followed by 12 x 50m.

Solid!

Fingers slightly apart or fingers closed?

What type of swimmer are you?
January 15, 2025 at 11:26 PM
Even in the shortest rest breaks, our swimmers find time for a chat!
