I somehow missed it last month when Mr. Bungle’s albums were re-released on vinyl, but picked up a copy of “California” this weekend. This record is an absolute all-timer for me - weird and funny and beautiful and unique.

Watched a lot of horror this month, but one of the few non-horror films I saw was Kelly Reichardt's "The Mastermind", which I enjoyed quite a bit. Judging from what I've read online, it might not work for everyone. Pacing is very slow, but Josh O'Connor is great, and it's actually quite funny.

It came close to stretching the premise to its limit, but Good Boy was atmospheric with a couple of effective jump scares, and a truly charismatic good boy as the protagonist. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched

The new Flock of Dimes record arrived today! And I’m catching the end of the listening party on Bandcamp right now. What I’ve heard of this album so far is amazing - I’m looking forward to having it on repeat throughout the Fall.

Judging by the average rating, I like A Big Bold Beautiful Journey more than most people. I think I'm kind of a sucker for some of the plot elements, plus it was gorgeous to look at. I like Colin Farrell in subdued mode. He's even better in director Kogonada's last film, After Yang.

Last four watched - two good NYC films and some older horror. #LetterboxdFriday

Probably my real answer is The Enigma Variations, a compilation of Enigma Records artists from 1985 that I owned on double cassette. I listened to that on repeat for years and still put it on now and then.

Not really my favorite, but for some reason the first thing that came to mind was the K-Tel album "Rainbow" that I, a sensitive child of 8 or 9 years old who enjoyed the soft sounds of today's rock, owned on vinyl back in the late 1900's.

Three horror classics and a surprisingly decent melodrama.

I had this poster on my wall for several years of my childhood. I pretty much stopped listening to metal in high school, but was always amazed that this guy who scared the shit out of parents and teachers everywhere ended up being a reality TV star. What a freak, RIP.

Listening to @thisdaypod.com talking about the Chicken Tariff of 1962 this morning made me have to break out my Chicken Mischief shirt, with art by @melvinpena.bsky.social.

It finally got hot and humid this week so I’m playing the record that always makes me think of summer in Durham - “Home” by Midtown Dickens.
