Snow on the ground this morning. I'm honestly glad to see the beginning of winter this year....

Invited to a Halloween party (on Saturday). Yay!
Theme: Disney. Ehhhhhh.....
Finally coming up with a half-assed semi-obscure Disney character who wears my colors. Yay!
Bonus: emotionally abusive mother figure counts as scary, right????

Hundreds of grackles just visited Moonwood on their way south. What a breathtaking reminder that we're all connected through the migration of birds, the blowing wind, and the movement of so many natural forces.

So many things seem to have aligned with my 40th birthday today - not least graduating to reading a Lenormand tableau for the first time! Perfect way to begin my 5th decade - stretching myself and looking forward.

Day 7: gratitude for the late summer colors of the marigolds - a flower that has accompanied me since I was little, delighting in their smell and their beauty.

Day 5 (belated): gratitude for this little guy. It's so wonderful to have a corgi companion again.

Day 3: gratitude for opportunities to spend time with the chosen family I live with. Pictures are the remains of tasting a series of decade old homebrew experiments... of truly variable quality! #GratitudeProject2025

Context for the #GratitudeProject2025, which I learned about from @glassewitch.bsky.social. I'm definitely feeling the need to lean into my gratitudes this year. #witchsky #gratitude #pagansky

Gratitude for the intense beauty of the stargazer lily - and the reminder of my late father's lily garden. #GratitudeProject2025

As of yesterday, the phoebes have fledged. Couldn't ever get a good picture of them while they were in the nest without disturbing them. As usual, the teenagers left the house a shambles!

First fall anemone flower this morning. It really is late summer in Vermont!

Among many other names, periwinkle is also called Sorcerer's Eye, and can be used in protection charms, as the eye-like flowers "keep watch" for you. #WitchSky

Lady's Mantle collecting rain - the distillation of water from the air into beads on its leaves gives it its scientific name alchemilla for the apparent Alchemy it performs. #WitchSky

Tonight is Hexennacht "Witches' Night" in German. Who's planning to fly to a nearby mountain top and celebrate the season? #witchsky

The bloodroot bloomed this morning in the #garden! A beautiful native spring plant in North America, but be careful because its red sap is extremely toxic!

More work in the garden today, before tomorrow's rain. This is the part of hard scaping that I really enjoy - blending it all in with what's already there. #gardening

The folk name "Lide-lily" for daffodil preserves the Old English name for the month of March - Hlyda - meaning "loud, noisy". #heathensky #pagansky #witchsky

About three hours of work and the garden path is upgraded with a stone staircase. I needed this kind of earth-therapy today.

"Phol and Wodan were riding to the woods / and the foot of Balder's foal was sprained". The blooming of coltsfoot along the roadside in spring always brings to mind the Second Merseberg Charm. #heathensky #witchsky

Blessings of Frig, the Old English Queen of the Heavens, on this Frigesdæg (Friday). Her name derives from a root word meaning "Beloved". #pagansky #heathensky

Double the corgis double the... chaos? Rook visiting his auntie Story, my mother's #corgi. They didn't stay still long enough for a non-blurry photo.
