Ooh - very exciting new find. Will be interesting to hear what kind of bird bones, and whether they find any links with the older, nearby remains.

The problem with how I brainstorm workshops is I end up with things like a line that simply says "Gifts from the Earth" - which sounds really cool, and yet I have NO IDEA what it referred to when I wrote it. Offerings? Found objects? Inspiration? Who knows!

Theme: Disney. Ehhhhhh.....
Finally coming up with a half-assed semi-obscure Disney character who wears my colors. Yay!
Bonus: emotionally abusive mother figure counts as scary, right????

In which our heroine learns that an amazing gel manicure can only be removed by soaking each finger in headache-inducing chemicals for 20 minutes. Still worth it for a stint of three weeks of unchipped nails, but I may have to go lie down afterwards....

Saw something that @realgdt.bsky.social said the other day, and remembered I had something I started a while ago that I should finish up.

I'm so tired of all this.

Hundreds of grackles just visited Moonwood on their way south. What a breathtaking reminder that we're all connected through the migration of birds, the blowing wind, and the movement of so many natural forces.

So glad we're getting more rain. Vermont has been in severe drought for much of the summer - I can't imagine the stress on the trees after a too-wet spring when many of them were severely defoliated by fungus, then no rain through the hottest part of the year.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about social media as a whole, and whether I even want to be interacting with it. It feels like it reinforces so many performative aspects of our culture, and doesn't always deliver on the promise of connection.

This episode with Gildor Inglorion is one of my favorites in the Fellowship of the Ring. Fun fact - apparently, he may be Galadriel's cousin. (Not in the movies, if that's your only reference point.)
After Frodo, Sam, and Pippin enjoy the feast and songs of the Elves in the forest above Woodhall, Frodo asks Gildor for advice.

‘Go at once…and if Gandalf does not come before you set out, then I also advise this: do not go alone. Take such friends as are trusty and willing.’
