The US is arming a literal genocide, has blocked international action against that genocide, and has now started a war with a sovereign nation by bombing some power plants its own intelligence reports are simply power plants - all on behalf of the country committing genocide.

now more of you are seeing MATERIALISTS I can finally say there's a big plot arc that's one of the most quietly grotesque and straight up bizarre depictions of this kind of painful life event I've ever seen in a movie. genuinely couldn't believe what was happening

Podcasts have sorta replaced this, but it's nice when critics talk to each other about their reviews. It normalizes diverse opinions and takes away the impulse that we all need to think the same way or that reviews should only exist as marketing.

Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag & Presence—two twisty genre exercises fascinated by domestic surveillance. Black Bag is precise with a Christie-Hitchcock tone, yet deeply funny. Presence is a slow-burn, first-person subversive ghost story. Sodie is back!

Steven Soderbergh absolutely cooking in Black Bag—elite filmmaking all around. Our theater gasped/laughed throughout and literally applauded through the credits. This might be a legendary date night movie.

Todd Phillips, of all people, was right about this. Unless you are a Warner Bros Discovery shareholder, whether or not Mickey 17 or Joker 2 or anything else recoups its budget is not relevant to you!

We wanted this to work so bad. Mickey 17 is full Bong—goofy space adventure, absurdist class awakening satire, and weird Pattinson doing anime-tier physical comedy. However, its playfully anarchic tone can't save its disappointingly boring, underdeveloped arc for Mickey. More on LB.

A ★★★ review of Mickey 17 (2025)
We wanted this to work so bad. Bong Joon-ho goes full goofy space adventure with Mickey 17, a class-conscious satire that blends absurdist comedy (some wild physical gags from Pattinson) with tonally offbeat sci-fi mini-spectacle. It feels inspired by slapstick-era Hollywood and Luc Besson's vibe in The Fifth Element and Valerian—all three films thrive on high-concept sci-fi mixed with eccentric humor, where satire and blockbuster visuals collide in ways that don't always land, and deep characters take a backseat to quirky, unpredictable bits. Director Bong adapts Mickey7 with clear ambitions to highlight the absurdity of suffering under late-capitalism; its proletarian

likely needless to say, but: i loved MICKEY 17. it's beautiful, funny, strange, and really touching — i don't know how else to put it, but: it may be an american blockbuster, but at the same time, it doesn't feel any less korean.

in what meaningful way can we say that the constitution is in effect when an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is wielding state power to unilaterally cancel congressional appropriations?
Hearing that DOGE went into the Dept of Education today and shut down almost the entirety of the department's in-house research arm, Institute of Educational Sciences, cancelling contracts totally about $900m.
