Wondered if these birds in Wales were a different but similar species to our loon, but apparently not. Same species. (See range map below - orange is breeding range, yellow is migration, blue is non-breeding.) I did not know that they ever made their way to Europe.

I always like these drawings - very animation-influenced. A tricky part with canine heads for me is remembering where the teeth are. The 'flews' ( the sides of the muzzle that hang down) vary with the breed. They're small with wolves but get very big and saggy with some dog breeds. (Drawing by me)
