I've completed my third day of this section of the E10, leaving a campground at Tessin to cross a lovely river valley and through some forest before following the trail to the Forest Haus at Korleput: open.substack.com/pub/trekking...
Section Hike: E10, Franzburg (Grimmen) → Güstrow, Day Three
Continuing southward to close the trail in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

I'm continuing my hike down the E10, crossing through moors, swamps, forests, and meeting the first fellow through-hiker I've found on the trail:

I've now started my write-ups of my section hike down the E10, from Franzburg/Grimmen near Stralsund, heading south toward Güstrow. This is my first multi-day hike on the E10 since last May, and I'm glad to be back.

Made it home. I'll be doing write-ups -- both the recap of this hike, and the covered sections of my through-hiker's guide -- while I rest up and let my blisters heal.

Made it to the train station and will hop on shortly. Please enjoy this enormous heap of dirt next to a freeway overpass, and this excellent slug.

Cell reception is still terrible, so no pictures for a while. I'll post some once I get closer to the bigger networks.

Good morning from the trail. Today's my last day on the hike: my endpoint is a rail stop about 20km from here

Good morning from the trail. Cold and dewy in the morning, now quite warm. I'm taking a detour to catch the trail at Selpin, rather than double back 8km just to hike down a road. Still about 30km today, so quite a long day. Off we go.

Onthe trail today I met Digby from Australia, who's hiking the E10 from Kap Arkona to Prague all in one go. He's staying in inns and hostels, so his plan's completely different. It's fascinating to see the different approaches, and encouraging finally to meet another through-hiker.

So now I'm at a "wellness center," which also has camping, farther into town. The also have beer, and a sauna. Depending on how tired I am, I might try both.

The tent spot at the entrance to Tessin, where I was planning zo overnight, was closed. Pity, because it was quite nice. Reception is terrible here, so no photos.

On the left: a pleasant woodland trail. On the right: the barren paved road the E10 wants me to use. They arrive at the same place. I honestly don't understand the trail routing sometimes.

Good morning from Tribsees, where I'm packed up and ready to head out. Today's a bit longer than yesterday, but I have all day. Hopefully a bit more wilderness zoday. We'll see.

Time for bed. Please enjoy this sign for the restroom, with a frog.

… and I've arrived. That day was way longer than it needed to be, and more stressful. I also forgot my magnesium fizzy tablets, so my muscles are going to hurt. But the first day is in the bag. Now I just need to set up, eat, wash up, and crash.

Closer …

Tribsees, my destination. So close, still so far. Almost done for the day.

Quick stop to eat a bit and shed my jacket. The farm road turned into a nice forest road. It looks like I can cut across the fields in a bit and catch the E10 not far from here.

Turns out the bus wasn't running, so either I add two hours to walk to Franzburg or take the pilgrimage trail directly. I opted for the latter; greetings from this farm road.

Greetings from the village of Grimmen, where I await the bus. Lightly foggy and quite chilly; I'm glad I packed my warmer puff jacket.

Scene from the train. Still a couple hours to go.
April 11, 2025 at 6:37 AM
Good morning from the rail stop. Earlier connection was cancelled, so I'm heading out a bit later. Three hours by train to where I left off in February, then 23km to the campsite. Updates to follow.
April 11, 2025 at 5:24 AM
It's now looking like the window for resuming my hike to the north will be from the 10th to 17th, so starting in about a week. I'm *just* coming down off a cold and done with a different project, so it's going to be a short timeline to get prepared. Fortunately, all the planning is still there.
April 3, 2025 at 5:47 AM
One of the things I also noticed during my February hike was that my legs were out of shape, so I've resumed jogging. And oh boy, it turns out I was *really* out of shape.
I think I'm going to need to be more disciplined about that if I want to be in good condition for when I resume this hike :(
March 13, 2025 at 12:36 PM
So after that false start in February, it's looking like I'll be able to resume the hike in the first week of April (I have some appointments here in Berlin in between). Hopefully the weather will still be cool, but it will definitely be warmer than it was, so I can save some weight. Will update.
